Trouble in the Texas House
According to a statement by Representative Tom Oliverson, and Representative Brian Harrison, it appears a complaint was made to the Texas House Republican Caucus Executive Committee regarding four Texas House of Representatives members, including Montgomery County’s Steve Toth (The Woodlands). The other Representatives named were Brian Harrison, Tony Tinderholt, and Nate Schatzline. The report alleged that the named Representatives violated the Texas House Republican Caucus Bylaws, Section 7.10, “a member of the caucus shall not participate or assist in the campaign of an opponent against another member of the Caucus.
Section 7.11 of the Bylaws deal with violations, “Any alleged violation of 7.09 or 7.10 may be reported by any member of the Caucus Chair for referral to the Executive Committee for investigation or action, including curative action or recommendation of fine, suspension, or revocation of membership of any member. Any recommendation of fine, suspensions, or revocation of any member shall require a two-thirds vote of the Caucus”.
In a Nathan Hale-esque style quote, the House members in question issued a joint statement stating, “We only regret, that we have but one caucus membership to lose for our country”.

About the Montgomery County Republican Club
The Montgomery County Republican Club is an independent political action committee focused on engaging the Republican community within Montgomery County with educational opportunities and current research. Since our existence in 2020, we have never endorsed one Republican over another and, instead, present fair and accurate information on Republican candidates so that voters can make an informed decision. We often host Town Halls with elected officials, Get Out the Vote Rallies, & Republican Candidate Forums. We also research candidates’ stances on issues & party affiliation in non-partisan races.
